When Is a Level 2 Electrician Required?

A Level 2 electrician is needed to complete advanced electrical work that relates to the connection, disconnection, maintenance, and repair of a property’s electrical service line that allows it to draw from the main electrical network.

NSW legislation states that any electrical work that involves power supply lines can only be conducted by a level 2 electrician. This includes circumstances such as:

  • Moving into a new residential or commercial property
  • Power supply failures
  • Home or office renovation projects
  • Upgrading a property’s electrical supply

frequently
asked questions

What’s the difference between level 1 and level 2 electrical services?

The key difference between a Level 1 and a Level 2 electrical service lies in the scope of electrical work – level 2 electricians can handle more extensive electrical work to do with power supply.

While level 1 electricians can work internal electrical systems within a property, only level 2 electricians have the appropriate qualification to carry out installations, repairs, and maintenance work on electrical service lines that connect a house or an office building to the main electrical supply network.

Level 2 electrician will be needed whenever properties need to be linked to the NSW power grid such as with a newly built property or a renovation project.

How much does it cost to book a level 2 electrician?

Level 2 electrical costs in Sydney will depend on how complex the electrical work is. Radiance can provide you with an accurate quote based on the scope of work, after a quick chat over the phone or after reviewing the issue faced at your property.

Are you available 24/7?

Yes, our Sydney L2 electricians are available round the clock to help address any urgent or emergency power supply issues that your property faces — from electrical supply cuts to damaged local supply lines. If your property needs immediate reconnection to the main power supply, simply reach you to our helpful team who will be able to respond to your request and get someone out to your property ASAP.

Can you help if I have received an electrical defect notice?

Absolutely – if you get an electrical defect notice from your electricity distributor, it means that there is an issue or defective wiring in your property. Our level 2 electricians can fix all defected wires and ensure that all electrical installations meet Australian safety requirements. Any defects that are not fixed within 21 days of notice can result in electrical supply being disconnected – so it’s important that you call out a level 2 electrician as soon as possible
